Work in hand
In skilled hands, work in hand is an excellent training tool. It can be a great way to introduce new movements or to help build strength and confidence for horses who are not ready to perform certain exercises with a rider on their back. It is also a great way to work on suppling and strengthening when a horse needs a break from the saddle or just needs some variety in their routine.
Airs above the ground
The highest classical dressage movements - the Levade, the Courbette and the Capriole - were originally designed for military purposes and, though rarely performed, are maintained as an artistic display today.
Andre learned and performed this movements during his time training and performing at Tempel Farms.
Long Lining
Long lining can be a great training tool and way to build strength without the weight of a rider. In this case, long lining this 24-year-old former FEI horse gave his back a break and added variety to his routine. After stepping down in work, he was happy and sound to piaffe and passage without out rider. The pony’s exercise was a bonus!
